Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) is the leading trade association for the UK offshore energy industry. Following their rebrand from Oil and Gas UK, they needed a digital presence reflecting their expanded mission across all offshore energies during a critical period in the UK’s energy transition.

Their existing website wasn’t keeping pace with this evolution. They approached us to develop a platform that would effectively showcase their vision for homegrown, affordable energy, while serving the needs and interests of their 400+ member companies across the UK energy industry – from traditional oil and gas operators to renewable developers.

Championing the UK’s energy sector

As the voice of the offshore energy sector, OEUK required a website that could adapt to their evolving mission. They needed to make it clear how the industry is transforming to meet the UK’s future energy needs while ensuring a sustainable, just transition from oil and gas to renewable energies - all amid increasing public scrutiny and policy changes affecting the sector.

Identifying digital roadblocks

We started with an intensive discovery phase focused on OEUK’s priorities. Through a series of surveys, collaborative workshops and 1:1 interviews with key stakeholders and members past and present, we were able to uncover specific pain points on their website which was holding them back:

  • Content and design failed to showcase OEUK’s scope beyond oil and gas
  • Industry reports and resources were buried under overwhelming content volume
  • Members weren't aware of the full benefits of their membership
  • Disconnected systems created inefficiencies and frustrated both staff and users

User-focused architecture

Based on our findings, we restructured the site based on user intent rather than internal departments. Using low-fidelity wireframes, we tested and refined navigation concepts, creating intuitive pathways that made industry content easily discoverable for members, operators, government, media and other key audiences.

Strategic content development

With a new site structure in place, we developed targeted content that articulated OEUK’s position on critical issues from energy security to net zero targets and its support for industry. Clear calls to action guided visitors from awareness to engagement, helping to drive more qualified membership enquiries and event registrations.

Impactful visual experience

Building on the foundations of the new brand identity, we developed an impactful visual system that elevated the brand digitally while ensuring accessibility and usability. Through iterative design sprints, we created a component library that maintained visual cohesion across diverse page templates and elements.

Integrated technology platform

To enable OEUK’s marketing and communications teams to create compelling pages and campaigns, we implemented an enterprise-level content management system with custom features and functionalities. Our bespoke Microsoft Dynamics CRM integration ensured seamless data flow between systems, simplifying membership management and improving operational efficiency.
